It is with great sadness that the family of Jim "Jimmy" Dehn announces his passing on May 8, in Arroyo Grande, CA.
Jim was born in Hollister, CA., on Jan., 21, 1939. He grew up in Vallejo, and graduated from Vallejo Senior High School, where he also attended college. Jim started a career with PG&E at the age of 19 and during that time served in the Army Reserves. He retired from PG&E as a superintendent after 34 years of service.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pauline, with whom he spent many years farming fruits and vegetables on their property in Oakley, Ca., where Jim was fondly known in the community as "The Avocado Man".
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; Benjamin and Claudine Dehn; sisters, Bernice "Birdie" Townsend, Marjorie Fegley, and Barbara Ratto.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline, of Arroyo Grande, CA.; daughter, Nancy (Paul) Fontenot of Minden Nevada; stepchildren, Teri (David) Polastri of Guilford, CT., Karen (Vern) Fletcher of Grover Beach, CA. and Don 'Donnie' (Lynette) Young of Napa, CA. He was deeply loved by his extended family; including his three grandchildren, Matthew, Melissa and Josh; five step-grandchildren, Steve, Jason (Senda), Jeff, Christopher and Nick; five step-great grandchildren, Lacey, Morgan, David, Stephanie and Melody; as well as caring brothers in-law, sisters in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, at All Souls Cemetery 550 Glen Cove Parkway, Vallejo.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in Jim's name be made to the National Parkinson Foundation. www.Parkinson.org.
