Zachary Bowen, 26, became an angel in heaven Thursday, June 16, 2011. He was just too young to leave us. Â Zachary, aka ZBO, was a kind, gentle and spirited young man. He loved to be outdoors, riding his motorcycle and spreading cheer. He was always available for a hug, a smile and to share some laughter. He cared deeply for his friends and family. Zachary completed his education and was planning to work as a psychiatric technician. Zachary is survived by the love of his life and partner, Misty Rodriguez; parents, D.J. Bowen and Jana Vicars; and younger brothers Dusty and Dylan White - they were his buddies! Zachary is also survived by his grandparents, John Vicars and Diane McAlpine, Pedro and MaryAnn Garcia, and Ed Bowen; aunts and uncles Mike and Dana Baxter, Jerald, Denise, Jeff, Lori, Traci and Brandy Vicars, and Jarrod and Christopher Bowen; and cousins Joseph, Nicholas, Dev, Johnny, Gabrielle, Blake, Chase and Daniel. He was preceded in death by his uncle, John Vicars ~ Uncle Gordie had his arms wide open for you Zach! We know you are watching over your family my dear sweet boy ~ we will honor your memory with kindness and love to others, as you did so freely. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2011, at New Life Church, 990 James Way in Pismo Beach. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local homeless or animal charity.

I am so sorry to hear about Zach's passing...how did this happen? I remember him as such a sweetie he and Mitsy were always one of the cute HS couples. I'm so sorry for your loss..

It has been just a few short weeks and we keep expecting to see you or hear your voice on the other end of the phone. It really doesn't seem real~ You were so young but had made such a big impact in the life of those you touched. You are missed by many my dear sweet boy! Our memories are close to our heart and we share with one another stories of your life. Wish you were hear to make another memory with us. We miss you and think of you daily. Our love goes out to you in heaven.

Zack, everyday you cross my mind. I still think of you when certain songs come on, or when I want to share a funny story about the time we did something stupid. My partner in crime is gone, my friend is gone. I would give anything to see you one last time. I know I will never forget you and never fully heal from this pain. You being gone doesn't seem real and the world is a less happy place without your laugh, I love you and always will.

Wow....where do I start bro. It never gets easier. I talk to you nightly, but it feels better putting it in writing. I miss you so much brother. Not a day goes by that I dont think about you. As you probably already know by me talking to you nightly, and you watching over everyone....I have a little one on the way bro....a little boy....due july 16th. We are naming him Brody Lee Rash. I also am now engaged to a wonderful gal named Katie. Of course I had to brag all about you. Shes an amazing person. It makes me cry just thinking about you not being able to be here in person in the waititng room, or meet him after all we used to talk about. Mostly Im sad he does not have the priviledge to meet easily the greatest human being I have ever known in my life....such an all around amazing person, and my best friend. Ive never met a guy like you, since havent, and doubt I ever will. I miss you deeply, and know the last thing youd want me to do is be depressed/upset due to missing you, but its so damn hard. We had so many great moments from just hanging out riding dirtbikes to simply when you stayed at my house and played call of duty. Mostly I miss the bond we had, the humor we shared, and the caring person you were. I can go on for days about how great of a person you are. Just wanted to stop by and fill you in. I did not know Zach but there is a possibility that he and I are related. My father had a son named Ed Bowen who I met on a few occasions but have not had contact with since I was very young. I sorry to hear about Zach's passing, I would have very much liked to have known him.

Bruce,

Edd Bowen is my father and yes he was Zack's grandfather. My father has often spoke about Carl and the influence he had on my father's life. My brother D.J. was Zack's father. Zack's loss has greatly impacted everyone who knew him.

I'm sorry to know of your loss, and nor do I know Zachary, but I believe I also believe I may be related to you. My father's name is Donald Bowen, his father is Edd Bowen (former last name Nipple). Walt (Edd's adoptive father, I believe) and Geri (sp?) are my great-grand parents. Bruce, I believe you may be my father's uncle, my great-uncle.

Sorry I was so overwhelmed at the influx of family I obviously forgot how relationships work. I am your uncle not your nephew. Donald is my brother although unfortunately we have only met once at my grandmother's (Jeri) funeral.
