Born in February 1972, Tye died suddenly of heart attack Tuesday, May 11, 2010. The oldest of three sons born to Ken and Sally Kadota, he lived his entire life in Arroyo Grande. In 1990, he graduated from Arroyo Grande High School, where he was active in band, water polo and the Academic Decathlon. He was also active in the Boy Scouts for many years. While attending Allen Hancock Community College he discovered his love for dance, and while working at Festival Cinemas, his love of films. He had been employed as a night auditor for Holiday Inn Express and Oxford Suites. Tye had many interests, but his passions were his family, the Japanese culture and exploring the world. He had traveled to Japan eight times, Great Britain, France, Russia, Australia, Venezuela and was planning a trip to Botswana, Africa, this fall on his quest to visit each continent. Survivors include his mother, Sally; brothers Thomas and Todd (Wendy) and their children Levi and Hailley Cooper; grandfather V.R. "Fred" Fredlund; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and second cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenroku Kadota. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2010, at the San Luis Obispo Buddhist Temple, 6996 Ontario Road in San Luis Obispo. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to a memorial fund to be divided amongst Tye''s favorite charities and causes.
