I met Champe in 1980 while he was working on the Alan Thicke Show - Vancouver. He introduced me to many celebs and we would go to dinner with many of the guests on that show.

I was a friend of Champe’s, we met in Vancouver, and a year later he invited me to visit him and Earl in their little house in Studio City. They were great hosts, Earl toured us around L.A. in his big Colony Park station wagon and one of my best memories was stopping in to visit Peggy Lee. Champe loved to roller skate, and I met some of his friends while trying hard not to look like a newbie at the roller rink in N Hollywood; one friend I met was Alan Sues, from Rowan & Martin’s Laugh In. He worked for the Tonight Show, and I remember arriving one day at the gates to the NBC lot in his white ’57 Thunderbird. Champe introduced me to Ed McMahon and we watched Johnny do his show. He surprised me a year later and flew all the way to the small logging town where I lived in northern British Columbia for the opening of my new discoteque. Yes, it was1980! I remember Champe with great fondness, he was a generous human being, and I especially remember his big smile. It was so sad that he was one of the many who passed in those very early days. I have some wonderful photos of Champe, if anyone wants to contact me I will send them to post.

To Brian Thorsness, I too was a good friend of Champe's working with him on The Alan Thicke Show. He was my roller skating partner at Pickwick where we would bowl as well. I would love to see your photos of Champe. I haven't found mine yet. Some fun ones dressing up for costume parties and such. Miss him. Earl would joke that Champe and I were like brother and sister. Good times, good guy, making room in Heaven when the time comes for the rest of us. God bless.

Me and Champe were good buddies while working together at May Co in Men's wear and shoes on Laural Canyon Blvd beginning back in early 1972/73 thru about 1974/75 when I went to work for L.A. County while he was working at NBC Studios for The Johnny Carson Show until about the mid 80s. Would sure like to hear from you Carole! William Hill at: [email protected]

Champe and me became like best friends while working together at May Co. at the Laural Plaza Mall begining in Jan/Feb1972 right after I got out of College from Cal State Univ Long Beach. During a break one time, he asked me to go to lunch with him at the food court area in the mall with him to have lunch with him and his uncle who was waiting for him. I said great, let's go Champ! Lo and behold, his uncle was Earl Holliman of "Police Woman" fame as Angie Dickinson's police partner. So many good memories and things to share. Long story short, he went to work for the Johnny Carson Show at NBC Studios in Burbank helping the Head Talent Scout Coordinator, Craig Tennis schedule all the celebrities and other guests to appear on the nightly Carson Tonight Show. He use to get special seats close up front closest to Carson's desk with my name taped off along with family members and or any other friends I would bring with me. My mother use to bake brownies for me and Champ and he couldn't get enough of my mom's brownies like everybody else for that matter. Use to go over to Earl Holliman's house quite often in Studio City which was interesting and another story. Actually got a phone call from Craig Tennis recently and Earl Holliman at age 93 still lives in Studio currently to the best of my knowledge? So much more to share. Would really love to hear from you Brian! William Hill

Would really appreciate and love to have some old photos of my old buddy Champe from back then if at all possible? He was very special for my mother as well, since she saw Champe as the brother that I never had! Thank you! William Hill
