Tony Betita, 66, native of Arroyo Grande, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2011. He was a graduate of the 1963 class at Arroyo Grande High School. Tony then attended Hancock College and the University of Nevada at Reno, where he was on a football scholarship. He was a water well drilling supervisor and worked in that profession for over 30 years. Tony is survived by his wife, Marilyn; son, Kevin; brothers Jerry and Richard; uncle, Leslie Oliveira; one nephew; five nieces; and numerous other family members. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Oliveira; mother, Evelyn Valadez; and father, Pete Betita. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m., with the recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m., Friday, July 15, 2011, at the Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel, 1239 Longbranch Ave. in Grover Beach. A graveside service will be at noon Saturday, July 16, 2011, at the Arroyo Grande Cemetery. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 800 Bello Ave. in Pismo Beach, with a reception to follow.
