Search continues for missing man-

Sheriff's detectives continued to search Monday for a rural Arroyo Grande man whose family reported him missing over the weekend after not seeing him for at least a week.
Patrick Jay Valente, 58, was last seen by relatives on or about July 5, but he wasn't reported missing until Saturday, said Rob Bryn, San Luis Obispo County sheriff's spokesman.
Relatives waited to report Valente missing because they thought his brother, who was out of the country, might know where the missing man was, Bryn said.
Valente's disappearance is being treated as suspicious at this point by sheriff's investigators because his personal belongings and pet were found at his Callender Road home, Bryn said.
“We're considering it suspicious ... because the dog was abandoned inside the house, with his keys and cell phone,” Bryn said Monday afternoon. “The car was parked outside and we have no person.”
He added, “It was clear (to investigators) upon entering his home that the dog had been there a few days.”
Valente's rural Arroyo Grande home, where he lived alone with his dog, was searched Sunday by Sheriff's Department Search and Rescue teams, which didn't find anything.
Detectives also questioned the South County man's neighbors and relatives Sunday and were following up on leads Monday, Bryn said.
“We're looking for him,” he added.
The dog, which was found in relatively good condition, was turned over to Valente's relatives, who are caring for the animal, Bryn said.
Valente is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs approximately 190 pounds. He has brown hair and green eyes.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about Valente's whereabouts to contact sheriff's detectives at 781-4500 or CrimeStoppers at 549-STOP. Information and tips can be left anonymously.

Hi Pat, I remember being your neighbor when I was a young girl and my father, Darwin, coached at the highschool. I loved riding past your home, climbing trees across the street, and saying hi to you all the time on Callendar Rd. I hope some day we will find you and until then peace and love my friend.
