Nancy Lee Grantham, 63, of San Luis Obispo, passed away on February 11, 2015. Born in Alhambra, Calif., Nancy moved to Arroyo Grande with her family at age 13. She graduated from Arroyo Grande High School in 1969. Nancy proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was stationed at Pearl Harbor. In 2001, Nancy made a choice to live a clean and sober life. A choice that she embraced even throughout her battle with cancer. She inspired many people to do the same. Nancy graduated from Cal Poly in 2010 with a degree in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism. Nancy is survived by children, Nathan Larsen (Jessie) of Bakersfield and Jesse McGill (Monique) of Pennsylvania; grandchildren: Zachary, Scarlett, Brooklyn, Jacob and Justin. Father, Richard Grantham of Arroyo Grande; siblings, Jerry Grantham, Tommy Grantham, and Janice Engle, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and get regular mammograms.

I first saw Nancy at Availa beach in 1966. She buzzed by on a motor scooter wearing a bikini. Long haired pretty surfer girl. We became friends, just friends. We shared the fact that we were different from most folk. We lost contact when i went to the army. But i never lost thought of my pretty surfer girl. She was beautiful and a kind soul. I regret that i was too stoned, she brought the weed..to tell her how pretty she was. I do so now.

One of my most precious friendships I had during my high school years.

A beautiful person inside and out.
