Michael A. Okerblom

On February 26, 2014, at 2:40PM, the world lost Michael Okerblom. One of the most compassionate, caring and intelligent people to walk this earth. Michael was born on March 11, 1982 in Northridge, California to William and Patricia Okerblom; the oldest of 5 children. He was a very sweet and brilliant child who memorized entire books of the Bible, and was a pleasure to parent. He wanted to better the world in so many ways. In part, because of his intellect, and in part because of emotional scars related to his parents divorce. He struggled to find meaningful relationships, though he longed for emotional closeness. He finished law school at a young age and passed the bar on his first attempt, but inside, he felt emotionally hollow. Everything changed for Michael when he met his wife, Joni Rose, the love of his life. Joni saw the light in Michael. Through their relationship, he rediscovered Peace and fulfillment. Love and purpose filled his life. Hiswork, which had always been good, became astonishing and amazing. He displayed gentleness, wisdom, patience, understanding, strength, passion, compassion, and leadership ability. His heart shone like a star. He was filled with plans, dreams and armed with the ability to change the world. Just when he had overcome, the Lord called him home, and he died in an instant. Why, we do not know, but we know that God has a better purpose for him. Now he is with his cousin Eric and beloved abuelita . We who remain here will all miss him dearly. His wife Joni, his stepchildren Easton, Chrissy and Everett; his mother Maria Patricia, his father William, Step-Mother Patricia, his brothers Will and Jonathan; his sisters Danielle and Patricia; his niece Jadyn Oates. His uncles John, Bob, Rene Duron, aunts, Ann, Jacqueline, Donna, grandfathers Victor John Okerblom, Rene Duron and grandmother Pauline Okerblom. Michael, you have moved on, but you will never be forgotten.

There will be a funeral service for Michael at the Santa Maria Cavalry Chapel located at 2620 Santa Maria Way in Santa Maria on March 4th, 2014 at 12:00 P.M.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A double tragedy for a well-known Santa Maria Valley family after the California Highway Patrol has identified the man killed on Highway 154 earlier this week as Michael Okerblom.
Officers say the 31-year-old hit an embankment and slammed into another car west of San Antonio Creek Road.
Okerblom's death comes nearly four years after his cousin Eric Okerblom, 19, was killed by a distracted driver on Telephone Road. Since then, Erik's parents have become advocates for road safety.
Michael Okerblom recently married his wife with three step children, according to his brother Jonathan Okerblom. Jonathan describes Michael as a compassionate person and says he recently moved to Lake Nacimiento to be with his new wife and children, where they could enjoy the little things like feeding deer in their backyard. Michael was one of five siblings.
Michael was a customer of mine. Him and his wife would come in a few times a month. He was a quiet man. Very quiet.. but you could tell he was in love. They always sat real close. And held hands. It was so refreshing. Not many people get to feel that way. Or show it. He will be missed and to his wife. My deepest sympathy. I can only imagine what you must be going through. May the lord guide you and comfort you in this time of mourning. Prayers to you and your Family Gina Dillman The Mayor's Place
