Leonard R. Valenzuela

Leonard R. Valenzuela passed away peacefully on March 13, 2012 at Grand Junction, Colorado at the age of 57. Leonard was born in Hobbs, New Mexico, on July 16, 1954, he was a 6th generation of the DeLaGuerra and Hartnell pioneer families from the Santa Maria Valley. Leonard was better known by all family and friends as "Little Leonard".
He attended Los Alamos Elementary and Righetti High school.
Leonard worked for numerous Oil Drilling Companies throughout the Santa Maria Valley, California and Texas, including Platform "Irene" off the Santa Barbara coast, many times working alongside his father.
Leonard's passion was riding free on his 1957, Pan Head Harley Davison motorcycle, with his biker family under the assumed name of "Pappa Smurf", he also enjoy many years playing and singing with a local band entertaining around the central coast. Leonard will be greatly missed by his family.
Leonard is preceded in death by his father Leonard, brother Rick and brother-in-law Frank Tosti.
He is survived by his loving wife Larry Valenzuela, of Grand Junction, CO, daughters Rhea (Greg) Matthews and family of San Diego, CA, Heather Valdez and family of Colorado, and son Aaron and family of Colorado. His mother Suzanne Valenzuela, of Los Alamos, CA; sisters Suzanne (Frank) Tosti, of Los Alamos, CA, Olivia (Keith) Bugal, of Santa Maria, CA and Susan Mitchell of Taft, CA. Leonard is also survived by nieces and nephews within the Santa Maria, Arroyo Grande, Lompoc and Los Alamos area.
A Memory Ride and Celebration of Life gathering took place in Clifton, CO. "Little Leonard" will be buried next to his father at the Los Alamos Cemetery at a later date.
