Kirk W. Young A memorial service for Kirk William Young, 17, of Arroyo Grande will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in St. Barnabas' Episcopal Church in Arroyo Grande, with the Rev. Father Daniel McHugh officiating. Private cremation has already taken place. The young Arroyo Grande High School student was born on June 26, 1962 in San Jose and moved to Arroyo Grande from Poway in 1976. He was an Eagle Scout from Troop 16, Boy Scouts of America, student president of the local chapter of the American Field Service, a member of the California Scholarship Federation and Involved In various athletic activities at the high school. He died Tuesday in a Los Angeles hospital. Survivors Include his parents, William and Kay Young of Arroyo Grande; a sister, Kim Ray of the U.S. Army stationed in Korea; maternal grandparents, Kirk and Adah Kirkpatrick of Arroyo Grande; paternal grandfather, William M. Young; paternal grandmother, Grace E. Young. Donations in his memory may 'go to the Kirk W. Young Memorial Fund, care of the Arroyo Grande Mid State Bank, marked for leukemia research. Arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Funeral Chapel of Grover City.
