Kenroku Tyrone Kadota, 65, of Arroyo Grande died Aug. 4, 2003, at his residence. A celebration of life service will be held at the United Christ Methodist Church in Santa Maria at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 13. Ken was born Jan. 30, 1938, in Los Berros. His family was sent to Gila River Relocation Camp and after World War II the family moved to Chicago, Ill. He graduated from the University of Utah after which he began teaching locally in 1961. He taught at elementary and junior high schools until 1969, when he began teaching at Arroyo Grande High School. Ken taught a variety of subjects and coached baseball, football, wrestling, girl's basketball and golf. He married Sally Byer in 1970, and retired from teaching in 1998. Ken's past activities include the Boy Scouts of America, Nipomo Men's Club (where he learned his barbeque tricks), and the California Teacher's Association. He had a lifelong passion for the development of the youth, especially through sports. He is survived by his wife, Sally; sons, Tye, Thomas and Todd all of Arroyo Grande; brothers, Frank and wife, Marion, of La Palma, Harold of Huntington Beach, Harry and wife, Grace, of Orcutt, and Paul and wife, Ruth, of Ariz.; sisters, Lucy Asahina and husband, Gungi, of Salt Lake City, Emily Robertson of Indianapolis and Alyce Yamanaka and husband, Iwao, of Chicago; sister-in-law, Kinu Kadota of Orcutt; many nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his brother, Yuzo and sister, Chizu Nishimoto. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that you take a child to a ballgame. Donations may be made to the Ken Kadota Memorial Fund at Mid-State Bank in Arroyo Grande. Arrangements are under the direction of Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel in Grover Beach.

Just loved him. As far as I know he taught me and my three brothers drivers training just loved him.

Mr.Kadota was the best! He always pushed me to do my best. If there were more teachers like that there would be less kids left behind. Thank you Mr. Kadota for everything, I will never forget you.

Mr. Kadota always had a funny story to tell us to make his point when teaching us about something. A great guy. He will be missed.

I talked to much so he made me take health class and come take drivers ed later . He was so right to kick me out class . I learned so much about driving when I returned . Thank you ill forget never forget u . Rip

Just coming across this notice. Mr. K taught me how to drive.....in the hills in Pismo! Right by Judkins. He was the SWEETEST, KINDEST, FUNNIEST teacher I have ever known. Wow. Just. Wow.

MR KADOTA was my six grade teacher. He knew how to use his cricket paddle. Not just for cricket either. My classmates awarded me with a handmade trophy for most swats in the school year. RIP Mr
KADOTA. My respect for Mr. Kadota was so hi that I never addressed him by his first name even up until his death. RIP MR. KADOTA.

I just browsed thru the fallen Angel's I remember coach kadota cursing at us from Nipomo (Dana) using profanity all of us felt like men then he made us clean up the gym. We went back to Dana smiling cause coach kadota made us feel like men.
