Gerardo Coria Jr. A rosary for Gerardo "Junior" Coria Jr., 23, of Nipomo will be recited 6:30 pan. today, May 20, 1999, at St Joseph Catholic Church in Nipomo. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am. Friday, May 21, 1999, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Santa Maria Cemetery. Mr. Coria was bom June 20, 1973 in San Luis Obispo. He was a life-long resident of Nipomo. He attended Nipomo schools and was a graduate of Arroyo Grande High School in 1993 where he played football for four years. He then attended Allan Hancock College for two years. While a senior in high school, he began boxing and boxed locally for two years for different local organizations. He had worked the last three years for Heritage Concrete until becoming ilL Following high school, he was an active assistant youth football coach for Nipomo youth. He was an avid sports fan. v , Mr. Coria died Tuesday, May 18, 1999, at Marian Medical Center in Santa Maria. He is survived by his parents, Gerardo and Elvia Coria Sr. of Nipomo; his fiance and mother of his child, Terri Grossini of Lompoc; a son, Nicholas Raymond Coria of Lompoc; sisters, Karina and Angie Coria of Nipomo; grandmother, Virginia Vargas of Mexico; nine aunts, seven uncles and 38 cousins. He was preceded in death by bis grandfathers, Miguel Coria in 1993 and Ramon Ortiz in 1972; his grandmother, Angela Ortiz in 1984 and a cousin in 1996. It is suggested that any memorial contributions be made in his name to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Dudley-Hoflman Mortuary in Santa Maria.

How sad...I remember him too! Wasn't his last name Correa though? Maybe not...so many friends...I had no clue! :(

He always picked on me as a freshman ;)... Then somehow I'd always find myself under his wing, being shown the ropes of leadership. He was so funny and taught me so much!!! No underclassman could have asked for more. Every time I lift weights, I smile thinking about him. He led the way to the end zone for me many times. Miss ya Junior...
