Hillebrand Geerts "HG" Riewald
Hillebrand was born to Geert R. and Marion W. Riewald in Orange County, California, on May 4, 1921. He attended Arroyo Grande High School and was in the US Army for a short term. He owned and operated Airport Grocery and Ben Wiley Grocery in Santa Maria.
He married Mildred Frances Kuhnen on July 6, 1952. They raised four children; Bonnie Riewald, Larry Riewald, Brian Riewald, and Lori (Riewald) Garratt.
HG was preceded in death by his parents and both sons. He is survived by his wife of 60 years and two daughters, Bonnie (Santa Maria) and Lori Garratt (Meridian, ID), a sister Georgina Sanders (Orland, CA), and three grandchildren; Kenneth, Heather, and Kimberly Garratt.
A service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, August 4, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 3945 South Bradley Road, Santa Maria, CA 93455.
