I remember when he passed away, it was very sad for everyone. I thought his heart gave out while he was surfing ?

A very close friend of Rico's has stated that he did indeed have chest pain while surfing, but he had a heart defect which they tried to repair w/ no success & he died shortly after this procedure in AG Hospital. :(

Rico was a total stud and a really great guy. I was with him at Avila Beach the day he went to get his driver's license and he went to the hospital the next day. Rico's memorial was so sad b/c he left us at such a young age and was loved by so many people. All of the DiCarlos are great guys and I think of Rico often and still miss him. Thank you for posting this picture...brought back some great memories. RIP Rico

Rico was going to teach me to surf that summer. He and I were both going to be spending some time in southern Cal that summer, and were going to meet up down there, I didn't want to learn up in Pismo where people I knew could see me make a fool of myself. My friend Jamie, called me at my Grandma's down there to tell me the news. I was devestated, and came home the next day.
The services were heartbreaking. I still have a pale blue carnation from that day.

He and I stayed in a tent on a surf trip, and nobody else had food. We ate in silence inside the tent. We also did a surf trip with Germano and Dave Zammora down to C-street. I think that was my first of many future surf trips down to Ventura County

We had good times working at Taco Bell, lot's of laughs... The last time I saw Enrico was at Avila Beach, we sat and chatted... he then took off to Pismo to go surfing.

I was in Calif. this past Spring and visited his grave. It's funny how over the years occasionally he crosses my mind.. sweet Rico we have not forgotten you!

Enrico was one of my best friends from 3rd to 7th grade. Lots of great memories, riding dirt bikes, fishing and listening to Cheech and Chong records. God, he loved to laugh. I can still hear him laugh.
I broke my big toe riding his Honda XR75, the seat fell off and I panicted and crashed. I've developed arthritis in the joint of that toe, so i'm reminded of that crash everytime the barometer changes. I could'nt forget Rico if I wanted to. LOL
I was away on vacation with my family in Vancouver BC when I got the news. I wasn't able to make it back in time for his service. It was really hard. He was a really good friend.
I ran into him in Pismo about a week before he died, I remember him telling me about getting his license, he was so excided. I never imagined it would be the last time I saw him. I'm so glad I did though.
God never made one any better than Enrico Dicarlo. RIP mi amigo, you are missed.

i knew the whole DiCarlo family, and am just now writing a story of when i babysat the 4 boys when i was 14. i was a JW also at that time, and have left the religion like Rico did... however much later. in writing this story today- i remembered that Enrico had died and just wanted to confirm what i knew. really fond memories of the whole family, and i hope Rico found a lot of joy and happiness in his short life.

Rico was and will always be my best friend but he wasnt just my best friend he was my cousin, I miss him every day, Rico was visiting our house weeks before he died and I am so thankful for that time we had. His funeral was a testament to his personality, there were so many people there spilling to the outside. The comments on this site are amazing I found this by accident and maybe this was Rico reaching out. This is to you Rico may the waves be never ending, the laughs be roaring and the farts be plentiful (he knows what I mean)
Love ya
You cuz Rick
