Please Feel Free To Leave A Comment Or A Memory You Had With Eddie~
Edwin Frederick Nelson, 88, died peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Arroyo Grande Community Hospital while surrounded by family.
Born October 7, 1920, in Michigan, concern for his father's health brought the family to California and Pismo Beach in 1922 where he received his early schooling.
After graduating from Arroyo Grande High School he joined the U.S. Navy in 1942, and soon after while on a short leave, he and his high school sweetheart, Barbara Taylor, were married in Reno, Nevada on November 13, 1942.
On his return to civilian life following WWII, "Eddie", as he was known, began his entrepreneurial career, culminating in 1952 with purchase of the Arroyo Grande Truck Co., soon to become Certified Freight Lines. Recognized for his honesty and dedication to small farmers of the area, Nelson quickly led the business to success as one of the major trucking lines.
