Please Feel Free To Leave A Comment Or A Memory You Had With David~
David King, 21, of Arroyo Grande, passed away after a difficult, yet inspirational, year-long battle with cancer Saturday, April 7, 2012. He spent his last days surrounded by his loving family and friends. David was born in Lancaster, Calif., but considered himself to be a native of the Central Coast. He was preparing to receive his Associates of Arts degree from Cuesta College when he was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer known as Rhabdomyosarcoma. David will forever be known for his unwavering positive attitude, a trait for which he was awarded the title "Most Optimistic" at the end of his senior year at Arroyo Grande High School in 2008. His infectious optimism was a boundless source of positive energy that sustained everyone who surrounded him throughout his battle against cancer. David took on the challenge of fighting his disease with the same enthusiastic hope and grace with which he approached his life. Because of his amazing strength and instinct to live without complaint, all who knew him believed he would win this battle. His contagious smile influenced and inspired all who met him along the way. He moved even seasoned medical professionals to extend their help beyond typical doctor-patient interaction. It was not unusual for David to receive a text message or personal phone call from one of his physicians, or a visit from an off-duty nurse checking up on him. David loved going on adventures, skateboarding, working at Esteem Surf Shop, summers at the lake, family dinners at his grandparents'' house, burritos, maple donuts and especially, bringing friends together. David is survived by his parents, Darin and Mary King; sister, Courtney; maternal grandparents, Richard and Sally Anderson; paternal grandmother, Marge Meyer; aunts, uncles, cousins and an extensive list of friends who considered him a brother. His paternal grandfather, Bill King, preceded David in death. A celebration of David''s life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012, at the Thousand Hills Ranch, 855 Thousand Hills Road in Pismo Beach.
