Please Feel Free To Leave A Comment Or A Memory You Had With Dan~
Daniel Joseph Stroub, age 59, died at Sierra Vista Hospital in San Luis Obispo, California on Thursday, January 29, 2015. Dan passed peacefully, surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones. Born in Los Angeles in October, 1955, Dan lived most of his life in Shell Beach. He spent over thirty years in the construction industry, working on large-scale projects up and down the Central Coast. He learned to surf at an early age at St. Ann's, just minutes from the house where he grew up. His passion for surfing ultimately led him to Hawaii, where he braved the fabled waves of the North Shore of Oahu. Dan was also an avid fisherman, whether angling for trout and bass in local lakes or trolling for salmon in San Luis Bay. An industrious handyman and craftsman, Dan loved being outside and working with his hands. He was also known for the generosity with which he lent his expertise to others, and most who knew him have a story of how he went above and beyond to fix or build something for them. Dan also loved to create, and deftly crafted his own surfboards, fishing poles, and fishing lures. Dan is survived by his wife, Deniese; his children: Kori, Mallory, Brennan, and Danica; his grandchildren, Layla and Kylie, and his brothers: Randy, Rick, and Mike. A private memorial will be held for immediate family members and Dan's ashes will be returned home to the waters of San Luis Bay.
