Collin James Wolfe passed away July 29, 2002, in Nipomo from a lengthy battle with cancer. He went to our Heavenly Father with all his family by his side. He was 28 years old. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday at Lady Family Mortuary in Arroyo Grande, with Pastor Jared Vawter of the Grover Beach Assembly of God Church officiating. Collin was born June 30, 1974, in Arcadia. He and his family moved to Nipomo in 1979. He attended Nipomo Elementary School, Paulding Junior High School and Arroyo Grande High School up until April 1991, when Collin was injured in an unfortunate motorcycle accident that left him with a head injury and disabilities. Those disabilities never hindered him but only made him stronger in his achievements. Collin in his youth was involved with baseball and football, where he excelled. Upon entering high school in 1988, he was involved with such sports as football and wrestling, where he excelled greatly also. He had succeeded in winning many trophies, medals and certificates in his quest to be great. Sports were definitely Collin's passion. After Collins accident he could no longer compete in those area of sports, but that never kept him down. So Collin went on to compete in Special Olympics of SLO County, where once again he strived to be great and excelled in wheelchair races and assisted-walking events. He won many medals and ribbons once again in his lifelong achievement to excel in sports. He also strived to win the hearts of all and received The Most Inspirational Athlete of 2000.
Collins bravery and passion for life never faltered, as he showed his courage to the very end. He was much loved by many family, friends and everyone he came into contact with. Collin had an aura of light surrounding him. He also touched the hearts of everyone with his loving eyes and infectious smile. He will be in our hearts and memories forever and greatly missed. Surviving family includes mother and father James and Sandra Wolfe, sisters Lori and Carrie Wolfe, brother-in-law Michael Wolfe, nephew David McKee Wolfe and niece Sabrina Wolfe, all of Nipomo; grandfather Leland Wolfe of Illinois; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many extended family. Collin- miss you so much. Just thinking about you & all of the funny memories that we shared through jr. high and high school brings a smile to my heart and my face every time. I can't help but wonder how differently all of our lives would be today if that single moment was erased from time, and you were still here playing practical jokes on your adoring audience. Thank you for making my years in Nipomo as a child, FUN! It was a blessing to be able to run free, act silly, get into innocent trouble, all of us together during our adolesence. BUS Rides & the dirt fields in the dark memories will forever be in my thoughts. You were the big brother that some of us never had, and we could always rely on you to keep us safe. You will forever be missed, and never forgotten. I have shared your story and that of your family's many times over. I look forward to meeting you again someday, finding myself in one of your big bear hugs and looking up to see that amazing smile of yours...<3 Heather

Love and miss you my dear friend. So many memories running wild through our hood. Thanks for being our protector, our big brother, and the life of the party...even if it was at your own expense. ..Collin was afraid of the white lady. Lol man did we torture him.

I was just a little guy on the Arroyo Grande youth wrestling team. I remember Collin. He was in high school and I was in elementary. I loved to watch him wrestle and play football. He always went out of his way at tournaments to ask how I was doing. After a few tournaments he got used to me telling him that I was winning and instead of asking how I was doing he would simply ask, “did you win again?” and give me high fives and encouragement. I remember the accident and the surreal feeling I got as a kid under ten years old wondering how this dude I thought was Superman could be that injured. I never forgot his name. I am 37 years old now. I don’t know why I thought about looking him up on the internet but I’m glad I did and got to share this. I bet he was a great guy because I didn’t know him very well but he made a little boy feel special and I still remember him 30 years later.
