Venita “Vickie” Dirks-Askerman of Lompoc died Thursday, July 5, 2012, at the age of 80.
Vickie was born January 7, 1932 in Bakersfield to Mack and Ruby McGregor. After graduating from Arroyo Grande High School she attended a local community college. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Transamerica Insurance. Most recently she was the bookkeeper and business manager for Tri-Valley Roofing.
Formerly of Hawaii she has been a resident of Lompoc for 23 years. She enjoyed sewing and watching football.
Vickie is survived by her sons Donald Lovelady of San Lorenzo and Steven Hixenbaugh of Lompoc, her stepdaughter Ginger Hopper of Las Vegas, four grandchildren, her niece Carol Occhuzzo of Williamsburg, Virginia and many dear friends and loving neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years Ralph Askerman in 2010.
In honor of her request, no services will be held. Cremation will be followed by inurnment in the Lompoc Cemetery. The arrangements are under the direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
