Steven Eugene Machado, 56, passed away Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, at home with his beloved Gail by his side. Steve was born on his family''s cattle ranch in Arroyo Grande, where his passion for ranching and the outdoors began. That passion, and a strong work ethic, enabled him to earn his living ranching. He was a better cowboy than most could hope to be and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with anyone. He was a lifelong hunter and loved his many dogs. The Huasna Ranch was not only his place of work, but his heaven on earth. No matter where Steve traveled, he felt the most at home on the Huasna. Steve is survived by his children Anna George (Jody), Sarah Estrada (Kevin), Frank Machado (Toni), Katie Machado and Kelsie Silva; grandchildren Dallys and Carson Estrada; parents, Eugene Machado and Joanne Machado; siblings Marilyn Allen, Michael Machado and Katie Hill; and countless family and friends. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at the Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel, 1239 Longbranch in Grover Beach. A celebration of his life will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at Grace Bible Church, 100 Rodeo Dr. in Arroyo Grande. A reception for family and friends will follow immediately at the Arroyo Grande Hall (Portuguese Hall). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Apela Foundation, "Ag Adventure Camp," 360 N. 3rd. St., Grover Beach, CA 93433, for the Steve Machado Memorial Scholarship. Marshall-Spoo 489-5552 Grover Beach
