Robert Martinez Herrera, 62, a native of Golden, Colo., passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, in Arroyo Grande surrounded by his wife and family. Bob had been a local resident for 53 years. He was a state employee for 32 years, having worked at Atascadero State Hospital and California Men''s Colony. Bob had a passion for classic cars and Oldie but Goodies music and enjoyed gardening and landscaping. Spending time with friends and family was very important to him. He was admired and respected by all who knew him. Bob will forever live in our hearts . Bob is survived by his wife of 38 years, Maureen Herrera; two sons Robert and Reynaldo; sisters Anita Aranda, Cecilia Campoamor (Joe) and Nancy Bixby (David); brothers Angel Herrera (Lupe), Jerry Carlin (Gretchen) and Lorenzo Herrera (Edward); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Angel Sr.; beloved mother, Annie Herrera; and brother, Gabriel Herrera. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at Lady Family Mortuary, 555 Fair Oaks in Arroyo Grande. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob Herrera''s name to the Woods Humane Society.
