Randall Scott Lipkin
   1969 ~ 2012

Randy was born in February 1969 in Las Vegas, Nev., and passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012, in Long Beach, Calif. Randy spent his formative years growing up in Grover City (Grover Beach), where he was active in all sports and pretty darn good, as he was an All-Star for a Beach Cities Little League Team that qualified for state. He went on to play baseball, football and a year of basketball for Arroyo Grande High School, having pitched and played first base for the varsity baseball team. He also played quarterback and tight end for the varsity football team. Randy then went on to pitch at the junior college level before deciding to attend San Francisco State, where he graduated with a degree in education. He then went on to become a successful coach and teacher in Idaho and Oregon before settling back in California as a physical fitness instructor for a health club. He will be missed dearly by all that knew him well as he was a very special person in his short 43 years with us. He will be remembered for his great smile, tremendous sense of humor, competitive spirit and most importantly, his love for family and friends. Randy is survived by his mother, Jan; father, Stan; brother, Steve; nephew, Spencer; niece, Savannah; cousins Marleen, Scott and Taylor; and many close friends that were a huge part of his life. A service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Lady Family Mortuary, 555 Fair Oaks Ave. in Arroyo Grande. Lady Family Mortuary 544-4717 Arroyo Grande

Wow, first of all I'm sorry to all the family members and to the friends that he was close to. I had the pleasure and priviledge of playin ball with him several years while we were kids. From my memory he was always really mellow and soft spoken and never had anything negative to say about anyone. My heart goes out to his lived ones.

Randy was seriously one of the nicest guys I knew. I worked at JD Scrambles with him and Mike Hahlbeck, and even though I wasn't one of the AG football pack, they couldn't have been any more cool to me then they were.

All through high school, I never heard a single bad word about Randy. Just a super-nice guy, and a sad sad loss.

Randy is locked into my memory as being one of the funniest guys on our Eagle Campus in the 80's. I also enjoyed watching him on the baseball diamond where he loved to be . A talented athlete and a teammate every player and coach would love to have on the team.

Wow I saw this morning of Randy's passing. It really shocked me. It has been a long time since I've seen him but that picture brings it all back. We went to different high schools but got to know each ther well through baseball. He quickly became one of my favorite people during that time. He was just a great dude. His family is in my thoughts.

I loved Randy's easy going persona. I remember one time him and I were at football practice and for whatever reason we got placed on the offensive line for the scout team. He grabbed me as we walked up to the line and said,"Hey let's do like the NFL and shout out random blocking assignments and point at them."

He had half the line in hysterics and Coach Albert screaming, "We've got a game in two days and you guys are joking around!?! Good Night!!"

Randy you will be missed.

Randy was my high school football coach at Piedmont High School from 1994-1995. High school is a difficult time in a kids life. It is a time where your piers and coaches can be the most influential figures in your life. He was an incredible person who helped me through a rough time in my life. I absolutely loved playing football. Early on in high school I battled a severe injury, potentially not allowing me to ever play again. Randy was there for me. He was a patient leader who never gave up on anyone. Every once in a while, to this day, I will giggle when I remember Randy's personality. For example, a bunch of us lineman would be standing around waiting for the next drill and Randy would run up to us and start yelling and screaming about intensity and motivation, almost to the point of being scary. We were all startled like we were in trouble. Randy would then stop abruptly, change the conversation, and speak calmly and normally about something else. We all would giggle because we all knew he was kidding around and trying make us smile. He definitely knew how to keep our attention. I recently found out about his passing. It was difficult to hear that the world will be without such a positive and happy soul. Randy touched the lived of many. He will be always remembered as the positive, energetic, funny, light hearted person who went out of his way to make sure you had a smile on your face.
