Paul Anthony Teixeira, 57, of Nipomo, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013. Paul was born in Santa Maria in December 1955 to Gene and Betty Lou Teixeira. In 1963, his family moved to Nipomo, where he resided for the past 50 years. Paul graduated from Arroyo Grande High School in 1974 and attended Allan Hancock College, where he earned his AA degree. He continued his education at Cal Poly, where he majored in Agribusiness. Paul married Deanna in 1985. They raised their five children in Nipomo, where the family was active in youth sports, 4-H, FFA, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Paul was an active member of the Nipomo Rotary Club, where he served as President and was a Paul Harris Fellow. His hobbies included cars - everything from classic cars to NASCAR to the destruction derby - a passion he shared with his sons and son-in-law. He spent numerous weekends traveling to swap meets throughout the western United States to find parts and make deals on cars, especially when "it runs and drives." Paul had worked for Kaman Industrial Technologies for more than 20 years. He left Kaman in 2010 to serve as San Luis Obispo County 4th District Supervisor. He loved his community and worked hard to provide fair, honest and transparent representation for all of San Luis Obispo County. Paul is survived by his wife, Deanna Teixeira; father, Gene Teixeira; sister, Gail Ann Furrow; brother, David Teixeira; five children Erin Brummitt (Mark), Katy, Jeffrey, Jimmy and Melani Teixeira; and four grandchildren Lillian, Emersyn and Marky Brummitt and Andrew Teixeira. Visitation is will be from 5:30 p.m. to the recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 298 S. Thompson in Nipomo. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, also at St. Joseph's, followed by a private burial at the Santa Maria Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of his life at 12:30 p.m. at the Alex Madonna Expo Center. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Paul's favorite charities found at www.slocounty.ca.gov.
