Please Feel Free To Leave A Comment Or A Memory You Had With Melissa~
Melissa Ferrari Melissa's favorite quote was, "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.", and she danced her heart away. Melissa Marie Ferrari was thirty nine years old when she passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at her home in Nipomo. She was battling her second form of cancer and fought as hard as she could, all while being positive and hopeful. She was truly an inspiration to all who were lucky enough to know her. Melissa was born in October 9, 1974 in Santa Maria to Roy "Chico" and Carol Ferrari. She was the youngest of four sisters. She graduated Arroyo Grande High School in 1992 then continued her education at Allan Hancock College and Cal Poly. She was employed at the Arroyo Grande First United Methodist Church's Preschool, the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Victim's Witness unit, and as an instructional aide at Lucia Mar Unified School District. One of her favorite things was to take part in 5k runs; she took part in quite a few while undergoing chemotherapy. She enjoyed hiking, walking on the beach, and great music. She truly enjoyed each child and student that passed her path at the schools throughout the years. Melissa is survived by her son, Alonzo Ferrari- Chapman; parents, Roy "Chico" and Carol Ferrari; sisters and brother-in-laws, Alison Ferrari, Elizabeth and Erol Giray, Eileen and John Small; and nieces and nephew, Julia and Anna Small, Nicole and Paul Giray. We would like to thank Mission Hope Cancer Center Staff, Dr. Rocco, Dr. Kennedy, and Dr. Dichman for the care, support, and compassion that they all showed to Melissa throughout her battle Her service and celebration of life will be held at 11a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2014, at the Arroyo Grande First United Methodist Church.
