Mary Sullivan, 37, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2013, in her mother's arms. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister, whose family meant everything to her. Mary was born in Fresno, Calif., in November 1975. She lived in Yuba City, Calif., until 1988, when the family relocated to Hawaii. She came to live in Arroyo Grande in 1990 and always considered this her home town. She graduated from Arroyo Grande High School in 1993 and went on to become a certified medical assistant. She and Michael were married in Arroyo Grande in February 1998. She operated a day care in her home for many years and also worked in the activity department in a local care facility. Mary enjoyed reading, flower arranging and quilting. Most of her time was spent with her boys and their involvement in scouting, school and other adventures. Her cousin, Kelli Sullivan wrote, "When someone we love dies, it seems as if time stands still. And silence, a quiet silence, often can be felt, not just heard; a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch. And we may not understand why God chose to have her leave this Earth so soon, or why she had to go before we were ready to say goodbye, but little by little we will begin to remember not just that she died but that she lived. And that her life gave us memories too beautiful to forget." Mary is survived by her husband of 15 years, Michael Sullivan. She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Christopher Ayres of Arroyo Grande, Zachary and Parker Sullivan; brother, Marty Ayres of Oceano; and parents, John and Roberta Ayres of Arroyo Grande. She will be missed by her grandfather, Manuel Ayres of San Luis Obispo; uncle and auntie Gilbert and Carolyn Ayres of Black Diamond, Wash.,; uncle Bill Dieball and aunts Diana Worthington-McPartlan and Pamela Estes of Paso Robles; as well as many cousins, their children and many, many friends. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Mary Ayres of Lemoore, Calif.; Mary and Lloyd Worthington of Arroyo Grande and Raymond Dieball of Marysville, Calif.; and uncles Dennis Ray Dieball and Robert Dieball. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 501 Fair Oaks in Arroyo Grande, with interment at Arroyo Grande Cemetery, and a reception to follow at St. Patrick's Parish Hall.
