Mary Lou Fink
(1927 - 2011)
Mary Lou Fink, 83, died peacefully at home, Friday February 4, 2011, after a 3 year battle with cancer.
Born June 19, 1927 to Merle and Forest Henderson in Los Angeles, CA, she moved with her family to Arroyo Grande in 1937.
After graduating from AG High School in 1946 she graduated from Beauty College in Santa Barbara.
She met and married Francis Fink in February 1949 and they had 2 children.
When her kids were young, Mary Lou was very involved in Cub Scouts, Camp Fire, PTA, and always volunteered as room mother and chaperone for church outings.
Mary Lou sold Avon for 60 years and felt her customers were some of her very best friends.
Family meant everything to her and she could always be seen at sporting events and 4-H auctions at the fair for her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Her energy was boundless when it came to her family.
Her love of travel took her and Francis to many places with special memories with family and friends.
Mary Lou was a proud member of the South County Historical Society. Until her illness she was a faithful docent at the museum and school house with her friend Ann Silva. She was a member of American Legion Auxilery 136, Arroyo Grande Grange, First United Methodist Church, and the Avon President's Club.
Mary Lou is survived by son, Dan (Debbie) Fink; daughter, Judy (George) Pinkston; grandchildren: Daniel Fink, Tudie (Marshawn) Grant, Brittni (Nick) Genova, Shelly (Tim) Cramer, and Scott (Jean) Pinkston; 3 great-grandsons and 5 great-granddaughters; and nieces and nephews.
Mary Lou was predeceased by her parents; husband Francis; brothers Robert and Max Henderson; and sister Alyce Richardson.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 10, 2011 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at Marshall-Spoo in Grover Beach. Services will be held Friday, February 11, 2011, at 1:00pm at the First United Methodist Church, 275 N. Halcyon Rd, Arroyo Grande, with internment following at the Arroyo Grande Cemetery.
