05/06/1972 - 07/07/2012
Mr. Manuel Calderon Jr. or "Manny" as he was known by family/friends has passed away on July 7, 2012 in Santa Maria, CA at the age of 40 after a lengthy illness. He was surrounded/guided into his eternal journey by family and friends who loved him dearly.
Manny was born on May 06, 1972 in Quiroga Michoacan, MX and became a US citizen in 1999. He came to the US as a young boy at the age of 5 residing in Nipomo, CA and moved to Santa Maria in 1990 where he lived until his passing. He attended local elementary and High Schools in Nipomo and Arroyo Grande, CA.
Manny had many interests and hobbies including travel, poker, socializing, gun collector, breeding dogs, spending time with his dog, dancing, music of all types, movies, entertaining and rooting for his Dodgers. A party didn't start until he arrived and he always wanted to have fun with those in attendance. Once the music started, it was a sure bet that he was on the dance floor until the festivities ended. He also had a true passion for cooking and was an excellent chef.
His love of cooking started with him assisting his family with their restaurant, Quiroga's in Santa Maria, CA. He continued in the restaurant business by opening his own in 1999 in Nipomo called "Manny's Restaurant". He enjoyed his customers and always ensured they had a great meal and fun conversation. Prior to his illness he was employed with the University of Cal Poly as a manager of the catering dept.
Manny was the essence of positivity/fun therefore made friends easily. He was a great/charitable man at heart. He always made himself available to family/friends who needed him whatever the need may have been and never turned away any child asking for funds/donations for their school or sport organizations. He was a softie when it came to kids.
He is survived by his parents Irma and Manuel Calderon Sr., sister Erendira Calderon age 41, brother Mauricio Calderon age 38, brother Eddie "Panson" Calderon age 28, 1 niece and 7 nephews and beloved Chocolate Lab "Haus Cartwright Calderon". Though divorced at passing, Manny married his love Irma Diaz in 1993. He adored her and she is his eternal wife and love.
