Lawrence Susumu Hirase, 58, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 27, 2011. Larry grew up on the Central Coast, graduated from Arroyo Grande High School in 1971 and San Jose State in 1976. After college, he stayed in the Bay Area, where he met his future wife and her son. Shortly after welcoming two children to their family, they moved to his childhood home of Arroyo Grande. They later moved to Nipomo, where he enjoyed the remainder of his life. He was an amazing husband, father, and friend. Larry is survived by his wife, Sandie; son, Brian; daughter, Kimberly; son, Rob (Nicole) Simonini; sister, Kathy (Tom) Lee; and numerous other family members, who loved him dearly. Viewing will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2011, at Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel, 1239 Longbranch in Grover Beach. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011, at the San Luis Obispo Buddhist Temple, 6996 Ontario Road in San Luis Obispo, with a private burial to follow.
