A resident of Sonoma County, Katie M. Holub, 26, passed away May 24, 2011. Katie was born April 5, 1985, in San Luis Obispo County, CA to Mickey and John Holub. Katie grew up in Arroyo Grande and attended Arroyo Grande High School. Upon graduating, she became certified in massage therapy. She had recently returned to school to complete her nursing degree. Katie is survived by her father, John Holub; mother, Mickey Tornay; step-father, Russell Tornay; sister, Kristen Thomas; brother, Michael Holub; step-brothers, Jacob Tornay, Chris Tornay, and Skyler Tornay; and her niece, Evangeline, for whom she loved being T.T. Katie. Katie spent most of her life in California. She loved spending time with her friends and family. She touched the lives of many people with her infectious smile and caring personality. She was happiest on the beach and someday hoped to be able to swim with dolphins again. The service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Santa Rosa Memorial Park (1900 Franklin Street, Santa Rosa). Donations may be sent to your local Hospice.

She was so full of ideas for her future. We were planning to get together when I visited California in Sept. I will miss her and remember her often and with fondness.

She was one of my kidlets who I loved dearly. She was sunshine.

I remember Katie as a young child -- she would have been 9 to 11 when I would go to her house to see her sister and try to bum a cheesecake off her father. In an unlikely coincidence, I moved to Santa Rosa just about a month before Katie's last day. I didn't know Katie well but it breaks my heart that she left us so soon.

I was in your class, too, Ms. Christie. You left a deep impression on all of your students--thank you for the memories then and now. I am sure you had an impact on Katie as well.
