James Oliver Hunter passed away Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born in Long Beach, Calif., and spent 69 years in the Five Cities Area. He attended Oceano Elementary School and graduated from Arroyo Grande High School in 1958. Jim started his truck driving career at the age of 18 with the Arroyo Truck Co. He belonged to the Teamsters Union and was a past member and president of the California Trucking Association. Jim loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and member of the Arroyo Grande Sportsman Club. Jim is survived by his wife of 54 years, Beatrice; sons Mark (Teri), Martin (Tracy); grandchildren Maranda, Shane, Mariah, Lauren and Matthew; and great-grandchildren Sofie and Patrick. A celebration of life will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at the Portuguese Hall, 707 Huasna Road in Arroyo Grande. RSVP to [email protected].
