Jimmy was the best brother you could ever hope to have. He wasn't given very good odds to live past a few years when he was born but luckily for my sister and I he defied those odds. I think I can speak for the both of us in saying that we are better people because of him. In my whole life I had never heard him complain, be bitter, or feel sorry for himself because of his heart condition. Nor did he want sympathy for it. He held his own never wanting to be treated different. He taught me compassion and how to feel ok with who I was no matter what other people might say. And laugh, he knew how to and had the most contagious laugh of anyone I've ever met. My heart will forever feel as if it has had a piece broken from it. Those who knew and loved him I'm sure will feel the same. I'm so proud he was my brother and will miss his smile and kindness for the rest of my days. I love you Jimmy and thank you for always being there for me. Until we meet again....

My thoughts are with your family. Jimmy was a year ahead of me in school, but we were friends and I loved him. I've missed him over the years. If he became the man I knew he would be, the world is for his loss.

I'm just so sad to learn of Jim's passing. It's always such a shock to lose such a special person, a good friend! Rest in peace, friend - until we meet again

OMIGOSH! Another shocker! I loved him so much. He was my best friend Senior year and he really got me through that tough time in my life. Last time I saw him was about 15 years ago and it was as if no time had passed. My DEEPEST sympathy to his family and friends. I love you "JAMES KEVIN STEPHENSON"!

I have so many wonderful memories with this dude. Here's a now "fond" memory I had with Jimmy; though not so fun at the time it was happening. He taught me how to drive a stick shift...in downtown SLO back in 1980. I kept stalling at EVERY single stoplight/sign and hill in that town. I actually jumped out of the truck at one point and he told me to get my [blank] back in the truck! Thank you, Jimmy, that skill has served me well.

Is this Cheryl Cheryl. His friend that would get "I was sleeping but I opened my eyes and I was awake." That Cheryl?

Hi JS - Yup....it's that Cheryl Cheryl.

OMIGOSH! I can't believe you remember that! hahahaha! I still smile when I think of that day. If you want to catch up and share more Jim stories, here's my email address: cherlosheart@msn.com

I am so very sorry for the loss of your brother...an amazing human (even as a young adult). I only wish I had spent more time with him in later years because I loved him very much (and you, Jen, and Sarah).

I worked with Jim @ Amwins in Chatsworth and he was the Best Friend a person could have! We had so much fun and memories. I hope Arnie is fine as he can be at this time. Please let him know I am thinking of him. Jim's family too at this sad time. How is his mom, I know he was so worried about her health, Jim always cared for everyone else before himself.

My Dear Friend You WIll Be Greatly Missed and Forever in My Heart!

Your Friend!
