Gregory Castillo Jr.
03/12/1958 - 05/20/2012
Gregory Castillo Jr. passed away on May 20th, 2012 after a two year battle with cancer. He was born March 12th, 1958 in Santa Maria, Ca. Gregory attended Adam Elementary School, El Camino Junior High, and graduated from Santa Maria High School in 1976. He also attended Allan Hancock College and enlisted in the United States Navy. He was employed in janitorial services and had numerous other jobs until his disability.
Gregory was blessed with a "Beautiful" singing voice and was honored with the Henry Award at the Holiday Inn in 1975 where he received a standing ovation for singing "Your Song" by Elton John. His Passion was singing and playing the guitar, composing music and looking forward to recording. As a youth, he was very active in Boy Scouts and YMCA, both Greg and his Brother Leon enjoyed camping and hiking with the Boy Scouts. Both were inseparable during their growing days. As a Catholic he received all of his Sacraments and was a true believer in God and found much comfort knowing there were so many prayer offerings for him. Greg was very honest and generous; he enjoyed pleasing others and would gladly give you his shirt off his back, quiet in nature but most of all a gentleman in every way.
Gone but never forgotten. You have earned the kingdom of heaven and you will always be in our hearts. He is survived by his Parents: Mother Virginia and Albert Serna of Santa Maria, Sons Gregory Castillo of San Luis Obispo and Anthony Castillo of Arroyo Grande. Brother Leon K. Castillo (Kathleen) of San Luis Obispo, Sisters Patricia Hernandez (Pete) Los Banos, Debbie Martinez (Ricky) of Santa Maria and Birdie Puertas (Guad) of Santa Maria, as well as numerous Nieces, Nephews, Uncles, Aunts, and his Step Grandfather Gilbert Tacas of Stockton, Ca.
