Garrick Michael Ellison, 33, a Central Coast native, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at his home in Arroyo Grande. Gary was born in September of 1978 in San Luis Obispo. As a young man, he was an active Boy Scout in Troop 432 and was also a talented baseball player. He followed in his father''s footsteps as a teenager and became the youngest licensed wastewater treatment plant operator in the State of California - he worked for the South San Luis Obispo County Sanitation District. Gary then worked for Fluid Resource Management and discovered his passion for water and wastewater construction. At the time of his death, he was the Construction Manager for Pacific Solutions Construction and pursuing his lifelong dream of owning and operating his own construction company. Gary was known for his sense of humor, keen intelligence and love of football. There was nowhere he would rather be on a Saturday morning than watching his sons play football. Garrick is survived by his love and soul mate, Cindy Herrera; three children Alyssa, Nathan and Nicholas Ellison; parents, Chuck and Sharon Ellison; and grandparents, Gerald and Margaret Taylor. He is also survived by his siblings Daneal Nally (Chris), Michael Ellison (Jill), Troy and Maverick Ellison and Carinna Butler (Greg); nephews Hayden, Quinn and Cole Nally; niece, Payton Ellison; aunts Lene Vasquez and Janel Taylor; uncles Mark Vasquez and Dean Taylor; cousins Jason Vasquez, Christina Heon and Raquel Tomoloso; and many in-laws and friends, all of whom will miss him terribly. Viewing will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, at the Marshall-Spoo Funeral Home, 1239 Longbranch in Grover Beach. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 751 S. Traffic Way Ext. in Arroyo Grande. Burial will be private, Gary chose to participate in the organ donation program in hopes that his death might result in the saving of another''s life.
