Fredrick Albert Asmussen

Mr. Fredrick Albert Asmussen, age 68, of Nipomo, CA passed away July 23, 2010.
Fred was born on August 2, 1941 in Santa Maria, CA to Albert and Alice Asmussen. He grew up on a farm in Oso Flaco and attended Guadalupe Elementary School. While attending Arroyo Grande High School he was the first freshman to letter in varsity football. When attending Santa Maria High School he met the love of his life, Judy Downs Asmussen. They married in 1962 and raised two daughters. His love of trucks, tractors and heavy machinery led to a successful business life including Fred Asmussen Trucking and Fred Asmussen Custom Farming and Construction. Fred enjoyed Pismo Beach and the dunes and spent much of his time 4-wheeling. He built many jeeps from the ground up including his class winning race jeep "Schnapps 747." Fred repeatedly won the best engineered trophy with his race jeep.
Fred is survived by his daughters Tracey Parsons (Dave) of Nipomo, CA, Jullie Wilburn (Brad) of Ft. Worth, TX, Brother Clint Asmussen (Moe) of Santa Maria, CA, Grandchildren Britni Parsons, David Parsons, Jake Wilburn, Ashley Wilburn, Zack Wilburn and numerous nephew and nieces. Fred is preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years Judy Asmussen, his father Albert Asmussen, his mother Alice Asmussen and his sister Janice Asmussen.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 30 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 200 W. Cook St., Santa Maria, CA.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary, Crematory and Memory Gardens.
