Delores Cabaong Ridenour, 50, former longtime resident of Oceano who moved to Nipomo this year, went home to our Lord Thursday, May 4, 2006. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service begins at noon, Saturday, May 13, 2006, at Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel in Grover Beach. Delores was born on Sept. 18, 1955, to Macario and Margaret Cabaong in Santa Maria, Calif. She was an Avon representative for 26 years and had a passion for visiting with her customers during sales and deliveries. She married the love of her life Don on Jan. 27, 2003. Together, they began a trucking business in 2004. Delores enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. She loved living by the beach, and went every chance she could. She loved family and friends and showed it every holiday with gift baskets and crafts especially made for each of them, and this gave her great pleasure. She is survived by her husband Don and son Charles of Nipomo; brothers, Mike Cabaong and Larry Cabaong both of Oceano, and Ray Cabaong and his wife Sherry of San Francisco,Calif. and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her father in 1996 and her mother in 2003. Memorials in her honor may be directed to the family, in care of Mary Krisell at 489-4363

Delores was special for two reasons. She was sweet and she was a part of my childhood. She and her brother lived way out by Oso Flaco Lake and we rode the same bus to school in Guadalupe.

Delores was like family. Her oldest brother (Mike) was my best friend through high school and college. Ray (her twin) was always a star athlete. Her youngest brother, Clark (went by "Clarky") thought the world of his only sister. Thank you Delores for all the wonderful memories. RIP my friend.

Delores was my aunt, she was one of the most caring people I knew. She always took very good care of me as a child and ensured that I had good shoes on my feet. Having 5 cats, she taught me to be respectful to animals. She loved Christmas and every year I would help decorate her Christmas Tree. I think about her all the time, and I will pass on what she taught me to my children.

I remember Dolores Cabaong as being a good friend from elementary school , junior high school and l, high school when we were growing up. I was one of few black students that lived in Arroyo Grande at the time. I remember taking pictures with Dolores when we graduated from the 8th grade. I remember her mother had red hair I think, but I only saw her once or maybe twice, so my memory could be faded somewhat about that, lol , but my memories of Dolores are as clear as ever. She was a wonderful person who treated all people with respect and kindness,. She was the only girl with 3 brothers, just like me, lol. We had many friends in common , Lourdes Donna, Chico". Rico, Christina "Ann" Mina, Cecilia, Alanez, and Cecilia Alcala to name a few, We had to memorize the preamble to the constitution, lol. I remember her brother Ray used to run track with Jimmy Gin and I think John Moore. I also remember Dolores used to love to dance especially to Magic Carpet ride by Steppenwolf, lol, That was so much fun back then!!! It deeply saddens me to hear of her passing. She was so young. My family and I moved to Santa Maria after my freshman year at Crown Hill. After that I lost touch with many of the friends from the Arroyo Grande , Ocean, Pismo Beach years. From there I moved to Texas and finished high school there. I I just found out about her death after I went to the Arroyo Grande High School wedsite and then the fallen angels website to see if I could find anyone I remembered. I knew that Emmitt Campbell had passed away also, and his brother Shorty in more recent years. It is always sad to here of those who you once knew in your memories are now gone. Having good memories of wonderful people like Dolores lives on though. God Bless every life she touched, and God Bless America.
