Dean Chabot

On June 13, 2014 I lost my soul mate and wonderful husband Dean Chabot, he lost a long battle with cancer after 9 years. His beautiful cowboy spirit helped him fight the fight.

Dean is preceded in death by his father Hank Chabot and his mother Helen Chabot and a brother Charlie. He is survived by his wife Rose Chabot and six children Stacy and Erik Stein, Jason Chabot, Chris and Annie Chabot, Michelle Chabot, Trisha and Jason Stewart, Maria Orlando and 14 very beautiful Grandchildren, Brother Dan and Charlene Chabot, AI and Norma Ceglia Dean's in-laws that he loved like his own parents and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dean moved to the central coast when he was 10 years old and settled in Nipomo with his family. He and his brother Dan started to ride horses which became a great passion for both of them. Dean and Dan were ropers and won the Elks roping competition 4 years in a row. He was a long time member of the Santa Maria Elks Lodge and served on many committees. He was also a member of the American Legion, the VFW Post, and Eagles. He was a hard working Charter member of the knights of Columbus for Saint Luis De Montfort Church, where he was a parishioner for many years. He was always there to help out when needed and never said no. Dean was a wonderful Man of God, Husband, Father, Grandfather, son, brother and friend he loved us all with all his heart. Now we all know he is with our Lord in heaven riding the most beautiful horses you could imagine, waiting for the day when we can all be together again. Until we meet again my love you will be thought about and missed more than you know.

In lieu of flowers the family request that a donation to Mission Hope Cancer Center or Dignity Hope Hospice be made.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St Louis de Montfort on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 10:00 am with burial to follow in the Santa Maria Cemetery.

I only found this notification today but wish I had known earlier. I was blessed to have known Dean going back to the fourth grade in Nipomo and through the years we would continually cross paths and catch up. One would be hard pressed to find a bigger "cowboy" in their life journey. Your legacy continues to live in our memories.

I knew Dean since 6th grade and junior HS at Dana in Nipomo. He wanted to fight me when he first met me but soon after we became friends. He was a singer in my first Rock-n-Roll band in HS when we went to AGHS. Later he ended up becoming my brother-in-law for many years. I always liked him once we got past the fight thing lol! I would like to have seen him again before he died. This saddens me. This life is so fragile and relationships are the only thing that really matters and I hope people will learn this while there still is life.

Met Dean in 9th grade at Crown Hill. He was always so fun and a gentleman. Lots of fond memories.
