David Allan Dana, 44, Nipomo passed away Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, at an Arroyo Grande hospital. There will be a time of visitation on Wednesday, Dec. 22, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel in Grover Beach. A graveside service will be held Thursday, Dec. 23, at 11 a.m. at the Arroyo Grande Cemetery. Mr. Dana was born July 21, 1955, in Santa Maria. A life-long resident of Nipomo, he was educated at Nipomo Elementary, Arroyo Grande High School, Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, and Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. Mr. Dana was a member of the Santa Maria Elk's Lodge 1538, the Nipomo Rotary Club, Nipomo Men's Club, the American Association of Mechanical Engineers, the Santa Maria Valley Association of Realtors and the California Farm Bureau. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Brenda Dana, Nipomo; one daughter, Mandi Ferrari, Nipomo; his mother, Dolores Dana, Nipomo; sister Paula Dana, Nipomo; two aunts, Velma Marsalek, Nipomo and Eileen Ruiz and husband, Dr.. Eleazar Ruiz, Carpenteria; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; special family friend, J.B. Gates, Arroyo Grande. Mr. Dana was preceded in death by his father, Edward G. Dana, on June 10, 1994, and by his brother, William Goodwin Dana, on Feb. 6, 1998. - In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the American Heart Association, San Luis Obispo Division, 1371 Pacific Street, San Luis Obispo, Calif., 93401 .
