Collin James Wolfe passed away July 29, 2002, in Nipomo from a lengthy battle with cancer. He went to our Heavenly Father with all his family by his side. He was 28 years old. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday at Lady Family Mortuary in Arroyo Grande, with Pastor Jared Vawter of the Grover Beach Assembly of God Church officiating. Collin was born June 30, 1974, in Arcadia. He and his family moved to Nipomo in 1979. He attended Nipomo Elementary School, Paulding Junior High School and Arroyo Grande High School up until April 1991, when Collin was injured in an unfortunate motorcycle accident that left him with a head injury and disabilities. Those disabilities never hindered him but only made him stronger in his achievements. Collin in his youth was involved with baseball and football, where he excelled. Upon entering high school in 1988, he was involved with such sports as football and wrestling, where he excelled greatly also. He had succeeded in winning many trophies, medals and certificates in his quest to be great. Sports were definitely Collin's passion. After Collins accident he could no longer compete in those area of sports, but that never kept him down. So Collin went on to compete in Special Olympics of SLO County, where once again he strived to be great and excelled in wheelchair races and assisted-walking events. He won many medals and ribbons once again in his lifelong achievement to excel in sports. He also strived to win the hearts of all and received The Most Inspirational Athlete of 2000.
Collins bravery and passion for life never faltered, as he showed his courage to the very end. He was much loved by many family, friends and everyone he came into contact with. Collin had an aura of light surrounding him. He also touched the hearts of everyone with his loving eyes and infectious smile. He will be in our hearts and memories forever and greatly missed. Surviving family includes mother and father James and Sandra Wolfe, sisters Lori and Carrie Wolfe, brother-in-law Michael Wolfe, nephew David McKee Wolfe and niece Sabrina Wolfe, all of Nipomo; grandfather Leland Wolfe of Illinois; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many extended family. Collin was preceded in death by his grandmother, Gloria June Wolfe, aunt Robyn Maldanado, grandmother Ruth M. Reece, grandfather Thomas E. Reece and nephew Timothy James Wolfe.
