Andrew “Andy” Gregory Lyon, 28, of Nipomo died Thursday, May 18, 2006. A period of viewing and visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2006, and continuing from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2006, at Lady Family Mortuary. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Arroyo Grande Cemetey with close family friend Rev. Kevin Gotchal of South Valley Community Church in Santa Maria officiating.
Andy was born Sept. 14, 1977 in Upland, CA and resided in Nipomo since 1983. He attended Shell Beach Elementary, Paulding Middle School and graduated from Arroyo Grande H.S. in 1995. He was an avid 'Little Leaguer" from age 6 until 18 and also played football in the "NFL", Nipomo Football League. He later coached Little League. He was owner operator of Andy Lyon Truckin'. He loved family first, followed by sports. He also enjoyed boating. He was a devoted father to his beloved son Drew. He was well loved in his community.
He is survived by his son, Drew Lyon of Nipomo; parents, Greg and Paula Lyon of Nipomo; siblings, Jim Lyon (Jolene) of Hayden, CO, Michael Lyon (Trina) of Nipomo; grandparents, Carl & Evelyn Bomgardner of Nipomo and grandmother Audra Mackessy of Homeland, CA; aunt and uncle, Sue & Tom McCormick of Newport Beach, CA and nieces, Janay, Cami & P.J. and many other extended family members.
A barbeque reception will follow the service at the Edwards' Barn, 1095 Pomeroy Road in Nipomo. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Drew Lyon Trust Fund at any branch of Los Padres Bank.
