Alice V. Richardson, 78, of Arroyo Grande passed away Monday, June, 2, 2003 at her home. Visitation will be at the Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel in Grover Beach from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday
with the service starting at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel. Hospice chaplain Kenneth Shadle will officiate and burial will follow at the Arroyo Grande Cemetery. Alyce was born in Inglewood on March 12, 1925. She lived in Arroyo Grande for 66 years and graduated from Arroyo Grande High School in 1943. For 63 years, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Arroyo Grande. Mrs. Richardson was a clerk at Thrifty Drug in Arroyo Grande from 1965 to 1986. She loved spending time with her girls and grandchildren, also enjoying swimming and reading. She is survived by four daughters, Mary Alyce Phipps and husband Ralph of Falls Church, Va., Margie Dunn and husband Sparky of Santa Maria, Rebecca Milton and husband Mike, Robin Chavez and husband Mitch of Nipomo; nine grandchildren, John and Amy Phipps of Falls Church, Va., Carrie Allen of Santa Maria, Jason Mitchell of Nipomo, Sara Gabbert of Arroyo Grande, Josh Milton of Santa Maria, Jacob Milton of Arroyo Grande, Lindsay and Kayla Chavez of Nipomo; four greatgrandchildren, Derek Rodriguez and Hallie Allen of Santa Maria, Jordyn and Madison Gabbert of Nipomo; sister MaryLou Fink of Arroyo Grande; several nieces and nephews. Alyce was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John Richardson in 1998; father Merle Henderson; mother Forest Henderson; brothers, Robert and Max Henderson.
