Shaun was born in Fresno, and then moved to the Central Coast where he grew up playing little league baseball and football at Arroyo Grande High School. He later graduated in 1983 and went on to become a flooring contractor. He loved camping, a good barbecue, making beef jerky, being outdoors with his family and friends, and helping people to understand the Bible. He was a loving father and husband and a great friend to others. He was well loved by everyone who knew him for his honesty, great sense of humor, and positivity even in the most difficult of times. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, it was Shaun's faith in the Bible and its promises that gave him the strength to endure his battle with cancer and find joy in each day. Shaun is survived by his wife Monica; and children Levi, Alanah, Jasmine, Carrina, and Candice Hastings; and granddaughter Danice, as well as his mother Jill Chapman and sister Kimberly Sanchez. A memorial service for Shaun will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 6830 Ontario Road, San Luis Obispo, on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 2:30 p.m.
